Sushi making can be a time-consuming process that requires practice and skill, but as some sushi makers have discovered, using a sushi press can speed things up and make success a little easier. The Easy Sushi Press is a three-piece device with a bottom, a side frame, and a top. The frame sits on top of the base, ingredients are placed inside the frame and pressed down with the top. Remove the frame and cut the sushi cake into serving-sized pieces. Simple Family Living has cedar presses handmade in Washington State in the good old USA. They’re environmentally sound, beautifully crafted and finished with food-safe walnut oil. With presses as pretty as these, who cares if you actually make sushi with them?  This method takes a little practice, but is easy to master. Sushi chef, Aki Fukatsu suggests dipping the frame in ice water containing a small amount of vinegar before use. The moisture helps keep the rice from sticking to the wood. The vinegar creates an acidic environment which is hostile to bacteria.
