Design firm Wood Marsh has completed a sleek clubhouse facility for a golf course in Point Lonsdale, Australia. The design was intended to blend into the surrounding coastal landscape perfectly.
The Lonsdale Links golf course runs along the Bellarine Peninsula in Melbourne, where dunes, salt marshes, and wetlands make up the natural landscape. Wood Marsh designed the clubhouse at the top of a hill so that golfers from all around could quickly spot the building. The clubhouse is shaped like a curved blade and is finished in a textured facade that lends a natural and earthy aesthetic.
The materials chosen for the clubhouse are raw and have weathered finishes that speak to the coastal landscape. The tones of brown, bronze, and orange reflect the light to produce a sense of serenity and calm enjoyed by the golfers.
