A Finnish wood furniture designer, byJalmari, explores the beauty of wood with all of its cracks, breaks and defects. Demonstrated in a series of furniture called 'Broken,' the designer truly displays the natural properties of the material. The wood is strategically demonstrated as a substance objects are made from.

Wood with defects is often discarded and not used in the furniture making process. In this case it's the opposite and the raw imperfections are thrown into the spotlight. Jalmari Lahinen makes these treats with distinct accents, functioning as a collection of small stools and shelves with raw edges and glass surface inserts.

Each piece features the same damaged effects, embodying cracks and tears and shredded ends along the joints.
