Windscraper - Twirling Tower Powers Itself and 10 Others (VIDEO)

Our friends at ecogeek point us to the Windscraper, designed by David Fisher. The Windscraper is a self powered building where each floor spins independently in the sky. The result is that Windscraper can power itself along with 10 other similarly sized buildings. BONUS: The more dizzy you get, the more power you’re generating.

I’m not sure if I’m sold by the spinning floor ‘thing’, but the idea of a self sustaining building is intriguing. For a more feasible design, check out the Bahrain World Trade Center, a building with Integrated Wind Turbines.

Great for these locales: Hong Kong/Macao, Tokyo, Osaka, Kobe, Sydney, Palm Springs, Denver CO, Inland Maui HI, NYC LI, Boston, Chicago, Miami, Tampa FL, Seattle, Taos NM, Albq NM, SF Bay CA?? Id have floors stationary & exterior spins for Wind power BUT windows block rotating blades so one does not get Dizzy. NO rotate the Exterior. Or rotate Floor to catch Wind, then have Exterior Blades spon X00 RPM for wind drive mode. Install Aux escape trunks from floors to Ground level. Have sensors track wind patterns to move floors to catch wind best. Need Star Trek Turbolifts in Bldg anyway due to Moving floors. Or have Storage level floors spin 360 arc anyway. Low use floors. Nice idea.
