Famed photographer Steven Meisel looks the recession in the face and laughs at it with three captivating covers for the September issue of Vogue Italia.

When you do not have money to buy new clothes, look around you, use your old things and get creative. That seems to be the message of the covers.

Looking like peasants in wonderland, the covers feature models Sasha Pivovarova, Ash Stymest, Jamie Bochert, Christian Brylle, Anna Jagodzinska, Will Lewis, and Max Rogers.

Singer Rihanna stars on the cover of the couture supplement of this issue, with photography by Steven Klein.
