Video How To Sites - HowCast (VIDEO)
[Edit]
HowCast made Time.com’s 50 Best Websites 2008 list, and it’s no wonder considering the recent popularity of video DIY site. HowCast.com is similar to WonderHowTo.com and Quamut.com, but unlike them, HowCast.com pays people who share their “expertise” per each uploaded video through the HowCast Directors Program.
The videos range in topic to include things from How to Have a Summer Romance and How to Survive Without Air-Conditioning to more bizarre items like How to Legally Turn on a City Water Hydrant or How to Play Air Guitar. The site also features Wiki Guides with topics like How To Convince Your Girlfriend To Have a Threesome, How To Teach Kids To Behave With a Rabbit and How To Protest and Not Get Arrested.
“It breaks from its more staid counterparts, such as Expert Village and eHow, by injecting a necessary dose of humor,” Time.com says, later adding, “Each video is rated — often by thousands of members — so you won’t waste bandwidth on the boring ones.”
They also have featured sponsors like Home Depot and Ford Models who use the site for advertising.
