EA's "Dante's Inferno" Takes Required Reading to Hell

San Francisco-based Electronic Arts has taken one of the greatest, if most depressing, novels of all time as the story line for its new action adventure game. The very title of “Dante’s Inferno” seems to indicate a trip through the many levels of Hell.

If you have a PS3 or XBox, you can descend the nine layers of Hell and do battle with Lucifer himself to save the soul of your love. I mean what other reason could drag you into Hell? So all of you who have somehow managed to avoid reading the Divine Comedy prior to now, get ready to see the true evil heart of man’s psyche.

EA's take still features Dante as the protagonist, but the poet-philosopher is now a hulking veteran of the Crusades. He returns home from war to find Beatrice, the subject of his love and admiration, murdered. When her soul is "kidnapped" by Lucifer himself, Dante dives down to the very depths of hell, armed with Death's scythe, to win her back. (blog.wired)
