In Japan, an assortment of green leafy vegetables are made readily available for people on the go through vending machines.

I’ve seen a lot of silly stuff sold in vending machines, but a vegetable vending machine has got to be one of the silliest ideas ever.  I mean, these are vegetables!  There is an unwritten consumer law that you are supposed to see, touch, smell and maybe even hear and taste the fresh produce you are buying.

Oh what the heck! I don’t eat vegetables anyway.

Great idea... you see those tiny bags of baby carrots popping up everywhere. And don't they have bags of sliced apples with caramel dipping sauce. Too bad they are probably coating the fruits and vegetables with preservatives which pretty much defeats the point of eating healthy. These vending machines would definitely have to be in an area where the food wouldn't sit for months! I could see this really working if some real thought went in to it... like if the food sat in there more than x days it wouldn't be fresh therefore wouldn't dispense.
