The Moooi flower pot is an unconventional vase design made from sponge material as oppose to smooth pottery. The perforated and crumbly texture of the decor piece offers an unusually vertical holder to keep plants and flower arrangements inside.
While most vases are tall, slender and curved in design, the Moooi sponge opts for a more organic and natural finish replicating the aesthetic of natural aquatic sediments. The vase is made using a piece of sponge that is dipped and preserved inside white porcelain clay. The clay is baked allowing the sponge to burn in the kiln, leaving behind the clay that has taken on the texture and shape of the material.
