The Valentino Fall 2014 Collection comes with a subtext of masculine 'couture' layered throughout. It references both the softly enveloping shapes and the sheer man-hours labored over double-face cashmere in the house's Roman ateliers. With designers Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli, it was time for the Valentino man to think of home and this was done in Cubist, carpet flannel and shearling and louche cashmere numbers.

A distinct nautical undertone reveals itself with warm geometries and dockside denim boilersuits making more than one appearance. Stiff embellished bucket hats also make a number of appearances here; otherwise the collection is relaxed, using fabrics with a slight sheen. The shoes, though casual, are something worth noting. They're branded with forest green or navy blue stripes to put an edge on a casual kick.
