Urban River - Artist Paints Road Blue (GALLERY)

A new £55,000 artwork by Henk Hostra has appeared in the Dutch town of Drachten. The 1-km long urban river has been painted on a road which is still operating as normal, apart from being blue!

The work also featured the words, “Water is Life”, written in eight-metre-high letters, it also feautres additions such as sinking car’s and bins. The road Hostra chose for the work, is where a previous waterway was.

The artists really wanted the work to show up on Google Earth - currently there is still no sign.
