Jamie Oliver Takes on Unhealthiest Town in America

Huntington, West Virginia earned the dubious distinction of ‘fattest town in America’ after a poll that said that about half of the adults there are obese. While the honor isn’t exactly an honor, the unhealthiest town in America is now the location of a reality series starring chef Jamie Oliver.

British boy-wonder Jamie Oliver has taken the town’s health on as a professional challenge. In the UK, Oliver has seen substantial success in reforming the country’s school cafeteria menus. The British government took it so seriously they’ve now poured over a million pounds into the project.

But will the unhealthiest town in America fall in line? Oliver is already facing serious challenges—the people of Huntington weren’t exactly thrilled to be called fat and unhealthy.

The unhealthiest town in America is the home of the 15-pound burger, and the 15-inch long ‘hillbilly hot dog.’ Will that kind of local flavor, it’s hard to claim health as a priority.
