Turkish designer Umit Benan ripped his way down his baseball field catwalk during the runway show of the Umit Benan Fall 2014 Collection. Hooting and hollering for the finale, he advocated with a poster stating "No to racism - for the love of the game," all part of his tribute to baseball player Jackie Robinson.
Having said that, the collection advocates against racism in the 21st century, and perhaps within fashion itself by featuring all male models of color. The models are wearing sporty jackets with the leather 'B' fused to the chest, while baseball overtones are grounded with plaid shirts, contrasting ties and corduroy trousers.
Outfits are even paired with baseball mitts as an outspoken, yet delicate tribute to the first major league baseball player of color in the 1940s.
