When most of us think of endangered species, we think about the cuddly and adorable panda bear or some other cute, nice-to-look-at creature.

However, there are many other species of animals out there facing the same predicament that don’t get enough attention, maybe because they are so darn fugly and unusual.

Take the creature leading the gallery, the angler fish. This real-life monster that lives in the deep seas is being systematically decimated, but its plight is not as well-known and publicized as that of the cute pandas. There are no celebrities doing public service announcements on behalf of the angler fish.
