The latest trend in the hospitality industry caters to tweens, particularly young girls who are demanding more grown-up pampering. A special spa for the popular Bratz dolls has likely added fuel to fire, causing young girls to want similar treatments for themselves.

Recognizing this growing niche, Great Wolf Resorts launched their kid-friendly spa, Scooops, in six U.S. locations including Wisconsin Dells, Traverse City, Kansas City, the Pocono Mountains, and Blue Harbor Resort in Sheboygan, Wis.

The resort’s philosophy is “Life is too short to just have one scooop!” a clever motto for the tween-targeted locale. The ice cream themed spa is decorated like an ice cream parlor, complete with chocolate-coloured walls and retro furnishings, including swiveling bar stools.

Pampering services share the same dessert theme including sweet treats like a shower sherbet scrub and moisturizing body icing. Customizable ice cream bath fizzes let girls choose from chocolate, vanilla and strawberry flavours.

Highly popular are the spa’s manicures and pedicures which are performed on a fiant ice cream-sundae shaped sofa. Girls can stick with the classic Scooops Pedicure/Manicure or select from Chocolate-Covered Strawberry, Coconut Cream Pie, Caramel Apple, Peaches and Cream, Gummy Worm or Chocolate Brownie. To finish the look, they can further embellish their digits with nail gems, decals and nail art. Once they’re done, they’ll get to keep the pedicure sandals they designed themselves.

The spa sells Aveda as well as ME! Bath products which are designed for young, sensitive skin.

It’ll cost you $35-$45 for a day at the spa, which includes an ice cream at the café. It’s also a great party idea. For birthdays and special occasions, parents can let their tween and her friends indulge in a little pampering for $120-240, depending on how many girlfriends she invites. Party packages include either manicure/pedicure or facial/makeup touch-ups. The birthday girl will receive a tiara and bath products, and guests will get goodie bags complete with ice cream fizz balls, a group photo and ice cream vouchers.

Mom want to be included too? No problem. An alternate spa in the water park offers a range of Aveda products and services including massage, body treatments and facials for the whole family.

Kids don't like to be referred to as "kids" any more...as the young adult movement gains more ground everyday. The interesting thing about this article is that it will transcend all classes - superficiality dominates all backgrounds (poor and rich)
