Tao Okamoto Channels Her Funky Side in Her Cosmopolitan Editorial

Tao Okamoto is vibrant and energetic in the new tribal-inspired fashion spread for Cosmopolitan's July 2013 issue. The spread features ensembles displaying bold color palettes, busy prints and clashing materials. One outfit that particularly catches the eye and is worn exceptionally fiercely by Okamoto consists of baggy blue and white tribal-printed pants, an orange bra and tons of chunky statement necklaces including a large skull pendant. The entire ensemble is topped off by an oversized brown suede vest that completes the Woodstock-esque tribal vibe.

Photographer James Macari does an excellent job of making the outfits' busy patterns and clashing colors pop from the equally busy urban backdrop used throughout the editorial. Instead of letting the background overwhelm Okamoto and her funky fashion Macari makes sure to always center her in the shot and shoot her from a moderately low angle, so that she appears bigger than her surroundings.

This Cosmopolitan editorial is an exciting depiction of wilderness-inspired fashion as it interacts with an urban environment. The result is funky, energetic and all-around fun. Stats for Wacky Tribal-Inspired Fashion Trending: Older & Popular
