Starting at 6pm, our traffic skyrocket to levels that were high enough to knock our dual xeon server offline… Were we on TV?  This happened when we were featured on MTV Live… But since then we have massively upgraded our hardware.  So please add a comment if you know where all the traffic is coming from… 

So… I guess I need to crank up the hardware again.  I guess its good news…

UPDATE (March 1st):  Our massive traffic spike was solved by the number one search term on the net: Britney Spears… Trend Hunter is very optimized and our Britney Spears Bald Pictures cranked up in the rankings.  The impact: 50,000 people in a very tight time frame.   Yikes.

Oh fun, it was knocked off again this morning... Only this time I figured it out... If 50,000 people visit THIS TREND in the same hour, then the system gets unhappy. In the mean time I hard coded it and am working on something that will DRAMATICALLY enhance the speed of this site.
