Most of us are at least a tad bit intrigued by strange happenings but, even ignoring political news, there are just too many weird things out there to keep track of, let alone understand. To help sort through the noise, paranormala.com has published a list of the top 10 unexplained phenomenon. Among the more unusual entries are the Klerksdorp Spheres, at number ten. These rounded, grooved rocks have been explained away by geologists as being “a result of natural processes, coming from 3.0 billion year old pyrophyllite deposits.” Whatever that means. I can see how the rocks could naturally get their shape, but the grooves? Not so sure. Coming in at a surreal number eight are the Dropa Stones, named after the Dropa who, “according to legend, are a race of dwarf-like extraterrestrials that purportedly inhabited the Baian-Kara-Ula mountains of China.” Paranormala describes the legend and mystery surrounding these discs as follows: “Each stone, or disc rather, is said to be around 12,000 years old, roughly 9 inches in diameter, has a small whole cut in the center and is etched with a spiral pattern of hieroglyphics. It gets weirder. The hieroglyphics apparently tell a tale of the Dropa coming from outer space and crash landing in the mountains. Allegedly, Dr. Chi Pu Tei’s team also found several neat rows of tombs with 4 ft 4 inch skeletons, big classic alien heads and all, buried inside them.” As I said. Surreal. Another strange one, at number five, is known as the “Taos Hum”, a bizarre humming noise in Taos, New Mexico that seems to emanate from the surrounding environment. While there are a number of potential explanations, both man-made and natural, no one seems to be able to pin down the source. You can learn more about it Topping the list at number one is (are?) black triangle UFOs, which most of us have heard, seen or read about in the national media, so this list entry is not too surprising.
