Trend Predictions - Tom Friedman's New Book
[Edit]
Tom Friedman, columnist of the New York Times and author of “The World is Flat”, recently talked about the themes of his next book which will soon be released in the USA. One of the main thesis is that we’re going through a globalization process where people - helped by the diffusion and cheapening of technology - can be as powerful as big companies, or even more. And that even a small enterprise, anywhere in the world, can turn out to be global. According to Friedman, people’s creativity will be a strong competitive advantage among countries.
This massified technology has another side, which Friedman will explore in this new book. It concerns the end of privacy. In a near future, everyone will have an Orkut, MySpace or Facebook page. Everyone will write a blog, about anything. Anyone who has a digital camera is a potencial “paparazzo”. People will be exposed, and companies even more. “Our kids will leave digital footprints wherever they go”, he said.
