The author of horror film The Ring, Koji Suzuki, is marketing a nine chapter novella aptly named “Drop” embossed on toilet paper in Japan. Drop, which is set in a public restroom and takes up about three feet (90 centimeters) of a roll, can be read in just a few minutes, according to the manufacturer Hayashi Paper. Hayashi Paper promotes the 210 yen ($2.20) a roll paper, as “a horror experience in the toilet.”  (Koji Suzuki’s)latest work is set in a public toilet and plays on Japanese superstitions that ghosts and evil spirits inhabit the smallest room in the house, which is why they were traditionally relegated to the most distant part of the home. Parents still tell naughty children that a hairy hand will seize them when they have their pants around their ankles if they misbehave and drag them down into the dark water below.
