Tobacco Flavoured Condoms - Rubbers With a Social Cause?

Why wait ‘til after sex for a cigarette when you can have one during! A Government of India Enterprise has launched a new condom designed to evoke the bitter taste of tobacco and the betel nut. The enterprise, Hindustan Latex, plans to target the new condom line towards prostitutes, who are among the most vulnerable to sexually transmitted diseases like AIDS.
During an original study with other flavors including chocolate, banana, or strawberry, the company discovered that sex workers would rather suck tobacco!
The company ran taste tests with sex workers, including prototypes with chocolate, banana and strawberry flavors, but the paan flavor came out tops.
"The community loved it as most of the sex workers chew paan," Sanjeev Gaikwad was quoted as saying at the launch in Mumbai. Gaikwad is a director at Family Health International, a public health organization that helped develop the condom.
