The Weather Diaries is a set of painting-like photographs inspired by an exploration into Nordic fashion and design. Commissioned by Nordic House Iceland to not only curate the 2014 Nordic Fashion Biennale but to also create an artistic presentation of the event, artists Sarah Cooper and Nina Gorfer, who go simply as Cooper & Gorfer, put together The Weather Diaries as a representation of the latter.
Shot on-location throughout Iceland, the Faroe Islands, and Greenland, The Weather Diaries is not only full of stunning tribal-like clothing, but also dramatic sceneries and an overall dark romanticism. Each photo is reminiscent of eighteenth and nineteenth-century painting that go "beyond pure documentation and is interpretive, narrative, and utterly distinctive," Trendland observes.
