Melbourne artist Dylan Martorell is a master of the ‘sensory feast.’ This creative extraordinaire produces mind-blowing drawings, sculptors, sound exhibitions, installations, photography and concert posters. Oh - and he also sells t-shirts.
Sound is one of the most important elements to Martorell’s work, being described as having a “magpie aesthetic” his installations and artworks are sure to make an impact on people of all ages and walks of life.
Taking his inspiration from the natural world, the elements, geographical oddities, human rituals, ethnography, mythology... (and) his travels in North Africa, South East Asia, Japan and Mexico. A major touchstone is a keen interest in the histories of various musical
diasporas.
This provides a rich source of musical and aesthetic inspiration not only for musical ideas and instruments but
also for the rich imagery of real and imagined histories and old world mythologies and superstitions they contain.
