Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci, known as Léonard de Vinci, was born in 1452 in the small village which bears its name, located at 30 km west of Florence, it receives from his paternal grandfather a summary education and saw a happy childhood in full Tuscan countryside, where a love of the nature which does not leave it all its life. - whene sixteen years old, he go to Florence, in a workshop d’ Andrea Verrocchio which teaches several techniques to him: sculpture, painting, decoration, engraving. It has as a companion of workshop Sandro Boticelli, Peruguin, Domenico Ghirlandaio. He learns how to crush the colors, to clean the brush and in one year only, to paint draped of the character. Verrocchio works then with a painted work with oil, the baptism of Christ (Museum of the Offices, Florence) and, for the first time, entrusts to its young pupil the execution of the face of one of the two angels; this face slices already by its modelled, obtained by a play of shade and of light, with that of the another angel painted by Boticelli. - in ther twenty years old, Léonard go to the company of Saint-Luc, the guild of the painters, but remains in the workshop of Verrocchio intil 1476. he painted there, about 1476, its first painting, the Madonna with the eyelet (Neue Pinakothek, Munich). - He attends the workshop of Ucello, impassioned like him by the geometry and the prospect. he reads much and, as an autodidact, accumulates of innumerable knowledge on all sciences of the time. - In 1482, Léonard is destined for Milan by Ludovic More and remains with his service til in 1501. He is in turn sculptor, decorator, organizer of masked balls, of tournaments, also inventing of clever devices automatiques” for the entertainments, but still engineer, town planner, industrialist,  author of a Treaty of painting and of other tests, illustrated of innumerable drawings, on botany, geology, the anatomy (he dissected more than 30 corpses! ), the hydraulics, and finally painting.
