'Gravity Lamp' Lasts 200 Years, No Plug-in - The Gravia

Let’s start with the punch line. This lamp will last for 200 years if used 8 hours a day, 365 days a year. Oh, and it gets its power from gravity, so no extrenal power resources are needed. Does it get any greener than this? The Gravia, gravity lamp, by a Virginia Tech student won second place in the recent first Greener Gadgets Conference. The lamp has a weight that is raised up every day. As the day goes on, it slowly lowers, with that movement powering the LEDs. Since it is self sufficient, there are no cables or cords, which opens the door for creative designs.
