The Dutch Superbus Goes from Killer Concept to Badass Reality

Dutch visionary Wubbo Ockels is making public transportation cool again with the Superbus. The Dutch Superbus is an electrically powered cross between a limousine and a bus. The Superbus can transport up to 23 passengers at a time while hitting speeds up to 155 mph.

The Superbus is powered by a 300kw engine and several lithium-ion batteries that make it perhaps the baddest eco-friendly ride on the road. Ockels originally conceived the Dutch Superbus for use in his home country, however, the Netherlands has lost interest in the project and Ockels is now trying to pitch his design to Dubai. Dubai should at least give this design a glance. The country is flush with cash and if they could use solar power to charge the buses’ batteries, they could run it for next to nothing.
