If you’re old enough to remember what these television test patterns are, you’re old enough to appreciate this animation called ‘Bars & Tones’ by Vimeo user André F. Chocron. ‘Bars & Tones’ takes the standard pattern of thick colored bars commonly seen on retro television sets and makes it, well, psychedelic. Chocron is a film student originally from Oslo that now lives in Lillehammer. While he’s created a number of short films, ‘Bars & Tones’ is by far his most popular.
