Tea Cake IS cake not biscuit - UK Ruling Costs Tax Man £3.5 Million

Well this really takes the biscuit (sorry). It has been formally decided that the humble teacake is in fact a cake not a chocolate biscuit. A ruling which means the UK taxman must pay back a whopping £3.5 million to retailer Marks & Spencer. The error was made in 1973 and amazingly not corrected until 1995. Why VAT is on biscuits and not chocolate cakes is another matter but is it most cheering for the VAT man to be made to look a pratt!!! Via: cowshedproductions.blogspot |
