As one of the largest general merchandising stores in America, Target app launched a beacon technology test in 50 stores across the country. The tests will determine whether or not the retailer can benefit from technologically direct consumer communication.
The beacon retail technology testing will provide consumers with store information directly to their smartphones. The technology will benefit those who already have the latest version of the Target app. The app will provide consumers with up-to-date information, sales, promotions and store hours depending on each user’s specific location.
The information will be presented to consumers with a limited amount of notifications so the consumer is not overwhelmed or annoyed with too much information. A conscious limit of two notifications per shopping trip will max out the app. The user can decide whether they want more information during their visits.
