Obviously, the Tales Pavilion is several meters taller than the grasses that can be found around it, but the poetry of its design really harmonizes with the surrounding site. Built in China to coincide with Beijing Design Week, this edifice houses exhibition halls, showrooms and business areas for a range of indoor activities behind a very organic facade.
It may look like timber, but 1200 brass tubes are what clad the sides of the structure to give the appearance of tall grass. Around the point where the poles reach the edge of the roof, they begin to bend and angle outwards for an elegant wind-blown effect. Luca Nichetto's blades cover every surface of the Tales Pavilion, except for the expansive windows that provide panoramic views as links to the outdoors.
