Takeshita-dori is the cutting edge of Tokyo fashion - the Asian center for the trendy. If you are a tourist, you may not find this in the guidebooks, but what a great place to people watch - fashion magazine shooters mingle and snap away at the eclectic mix of colors and fabrics.
Most of the people there are just hanging out, but they have made sure they are hanging out dressed just perfectly.
The shops on this street are often a bellwether for broader fads, and some are known as "antenna shops," which manufacturers seed with prototypes for test-marketing.
