Naturally, a solar advertisement would play on an individual's social consciousness, moral duty, accountability to the environment, etc -- but no, not this SunRun ad.
Since solar power is actually cheaper than coal (in some places, it's the cheapest form of power you can buy) SunRun dually aims to educate consumers, erasing any preconception of having to pay more to do more for the environment. A hilarious take on why people should go solar, the SunRun message is crude, but eerily relatable. It is refreshing to see a company go directly for the meat of what customers want instead of embellishing their message with a guilt trip tactic.
As clever as they come, this YouTube commercial is a must see. Sunrun vocalizes what everyone is thinking -- it's not always about buying organic, the dolphin babies, or going green -- rather, it's about saving one's own green.
