Artist Lehel Kovacs has fulfilled his lifelong dream of circling the globe, but has done so virtually through Google Street View. Inspired by the children's book 'Around The World In Eighty Days,' Kovacs created a modern interpretation of the literary classic using the technologies available.

Kovacs selected certain areas of cities and through Google Maps and its Street View function was able to find the basis for his illustrations. Each piece is based on a specific Street View and includes places like Le Gare du Nord in Paris and Broome Street in New York.

The illustrations are playful and colorful sketches that have a mid-century feel, better connecting Kovacs' images with Jules Verne's classic children's book. Kovacs hope to convert his illustrations into a set of postcards.
