Alumni of St. John’s University in New York who have lost their jobs in the last six months have something to smile about: A 50% discount on grad school tuition at their alma mater. The discount, which is effective for two years, allows displaced grads to return to school at half the cost. The $70 St. John’s grad school application fee is also waived. According to Crain’s New York, the standard tuition for St. John’s graduate programs ranges between $865 and $1,040 per credit.  “We believe strongly in our mission to provide service and education for those economically, socially and physically disadvantaged,” said Kathleen Davis, St. John’s director of graduate admissions. “Given the bad economy, our primary push is to help New York-area alumni.
