The JETSTREAM is a sport handbike designed by a Polish team of designers headed by Jarosław Baranowski for Carbon Design. Their aim was to create a bicycle that would help disabled athletes be active again.
The bicycle form is subject to its functions, as the shape requirements for each vehicle result from the needs of each individual athlete. The JETSTREAM handbike was awarded a Good Design award in 2009 by the Institute of Industrial Design, recently shown at Design Korea 2009, one of the world's best design exhibitions.
What makes the JETSTREAM handbike most notable is the social aspect of the design and the product from the Carbon Design S.A. Company, a "Factory of fulfilling dreams."
"The aim of the foundation is to prevent the social pathologies, such as the discrimination and the social exclusion, especially with reference to the handicapped persons, help to everybody stricken with handicap, change the social consciousness towards the handicapped persons, initiate and support of in area of the innovative solutions in social policy, related with handicap."
