The 'Kovac Design Studio' constructed a contemporary home that appears to be split down the middle. While there are many ways to divide different spaces within a home, this building takes the idea of separation to a whole new level.
The 'Split House' is located in a residential neighborhood in Santa Monica, California. Upon first glance, it appears as though the home has been split down the middle. Although the ground-floor is intact, the upper level is divided and connected by a bridge that can also be accessed from the outside. The way the bedrooms are positioned helps to separate each space without disrupting the unity of the home. The unusual configuration also helps to maximize the pool area, which gives the home a nautical feel.
Not only is the Split House visually appealing, but it is also sustainable. The home itself was designed to be eco-friendly and contains advanced features such as LED lighting and photovoltaic panels on the roof.
