Made of wood, can reach speeds of up to 214mph and generates a healthy 600hp; this amazing supercar is the creative work of a graduate project for some students at NC State, U.S.. Wood is used for the chassis, body, and parts of the suspension and wheels encapsulated in a design to shame most car industry designers. The ‘Splinter’ supercar weighs less than a Porsche 911 and according to its designers carve out 20 miles per gallon too. From design (reported back in Dec 2007) to reality: this world’s first (and very fast) supercar is due lay wood shavings down on tarmac during 2008 leaving the design company, Joe Harmon Design, enough time to figure out [guess] a price for what is ultimately a tree disguised as a supercar. I reckon it will go from 0-60mph in about 3 and a half painful splinters. References: fareastgizmosFiled In: |
