This Spider-Man comic from 1976 is actually a guide to safe intimacy! What starts out as a standard entertaining comic evolves into Spider-man's mission to end a trap of ignorance that would otherwise destroy teen lives.
In 1976 Marvel teamed up with Planned Parenthood to publish a special issue of Spider-Man. The health organization used a classic hero plot to address issues of comprehensive sex education that focuses on teen pregnancy.
It's a little out of the norm for Marvel in terms of subject matter and even graphics, as exclusive artist Ross Andru was chosen to executed them. It appears as though Marvel went all out for this specific comic on the basis of talent alone.
But once again, the ignorance-breeding villain is no match for the enlightened Spider-Man.
