There seems to be yet another underground society bringing their lifestyle out in the open: adult babies.

Paraphilic infantilism is the psychoanalytical term used for those who like to engage in being treated as an infant or toddler. Adults who engage in play mimicking an infant are known as adult babies. About one in three adult babies are also referred to as diaper lovers. The majority of adult babies are heterosexual males.

Adult babies, whether diaper wearers or not, historically do not have a sexual preference for children. Adult baby fantasies include being free of guilt, responsibility, or control and while some act completely like babies at times, others practice in discretion.

The fantasies of an adult baby might involve diapers, baby clothes, and toys to help define the infantile role. In the end, the infant might drift off to sleep in a soft crib.

There are adult babies who call themselves “Adult Toddlers” meaning that they wear diapers, but don’t indulge in crawling around eating baby food. Adult Toddlers wear diapers and enjoy childish clothing such as footed sleepers and overalls, but do not see themselves as helpless infants. There are also “Adult Bedwetters” who act their age, but still consider themselves in need of diapers and some loving care.

The adult baby fetish usually starts in late childhood or in the teen years and there are many sites and support groups available for “Teen Babies.” As well there are many sites that offer everything for the adult baby from clothing, diapers, toys and even baby sitting services.

While investigating this underground group, that is now emerging from the shadows, it seems that most information suggests that these ‘adult babies’ are looking for a way to escape their stressful adult life and most of the adult baby fantasies are not sexual in nature.

The adult baby scene has been around for decades, but until recently has stayed relatively quiet. Who knows….. with our society becoming more tolerant of alternate lifestyles, one may want to be more cautious when speaking harshly to another adult as it may spark a pacifier episode.
