Will Smith’s new movie, Hancock, will be available for download before it hits iTunes or DVD. Since Sony owns the studio that made the movie, they decided that people who download movies would like to have a shot at doing it when the movie is still new so they are launching a digital distribution service.

Sony is trying desperately to make TV and video games profitable again. The new Bravia TV and Playstation 3 consoles will be able to handle the downloads. Sony is late to the game, but could become a playa if they get serious.
