The Sony Binaural Technology is Exemplified in a Video Clip

Binaural sound recording involves using a dummy head with two receivers on each ear to record sound. When listened to with headphones, the clip hopes to create a 3D sound experience, in effect, fooling the brain into interpreting the sound as if the listener was in the place where it was recorded.

Sony has just released such a video that combines the photography of Sony World Photography Award winner Andrew Scriven with the binaural sound recording of Nick Ryan, a world-leading expert in the field.

When experienced with headphones, the video is designed to immerse the listener in the world of a rock star as they prepare to go on stage to perform.
