A solar farm is a massive step forward for renewable energy. there have been issues raised about fossil fuels and its ability to continue to power homes and other aspects of everyday life, so this solar farm has come at the ideal time.
The Ivanpah Solar Electric Generating System take up much of the California desert right now as it powers a plethora of homes and other appendages. The farm is impressive and features three 450-foot tall towers attached to 300,000 mirrors. The mirrors are attached to software that allows for them to move about and follow the sun for optimal energy consumption.
The sun then boils water, which is turned into steam, which is then turned into electricity. This electricity is carried through transmission lines to 140,000 homes in California. While this is just the start, it is a big positive move in the right direction.
