The surPLUShome has taken first place in the US Department of Energy Solar Decathlon Competition. The German entry is a two-story 11.1 kW photovoltaic solar panel covered cube that outputs more than twice the home’s electrical needs.

Custom design features include custom-made vacuum insulation structural panels, a boiler/heat pump system for both hot water and ambient heating, and automatic louver-covered windows.
