In honor of Albert Einstein’s birthday on March 14th, a new educational social network, BestThinking.com was launched. Their credo: “We are building the Internet’s most comprehensive open access site to create, search and share reliable content and expertise on virtually any topic. Our commitment to open access includes opening at the same time for everyone, rather than a private content building period.” User Ross Kodner calls it, “LinkedIn meets Wikipedia meets Google Scholar.” Intriguing idea-it’ll be worth watching to see where this goes.  Our vision of open access to the world’s best thinking was born from a belief that the impact of knowledge, whether from acclaimed academics or weekend hobbyists, is directly proportional to the ability for knowledge to be shared, celebrated and improved. We believe that existing approaches, from academic journals to Internet publishing sites, fail to deliver the full impact of a thinker’s ideas.
