Health authorities in Guangdong, China, are putting an end to cruel poultry slaughtering mechanisms related to a controversial detox dish.

An uproar in the media commenced after some Chinese restaurants were reportedly serving chickens which had been bitten by poisonous snakes.

Although the snake-bitten chicken dish is a supposed detoxing meal, another prized dish, monkey brains on a live animal, is also upsetting animal rights campaigners in the West.
