The SMART Helmet is Designed for Serious Cyclists
Michael Hines — May 10, 2013 — Autos
The SMART Helmet is both a cyclist skull shield and a heart rate monitor. The helmet was designed by LifeBeam as an alternative to heart rate monitors worn on the chest. The SMART Helmet has a small sensor that monitors the blood pulse in your head to produce a heart rate reading.
The makers of the SMART Helmet promise compatibility with most fitness watches, computer cycling programs and smartphones. Integrating a heart rate monitor into a helmet is a wonderful idea as it cuts down the amount of items a serious cyclist needs to buy. LifeBeam took its helmet to Indiegogo to receive funding, and its goal of $50,000 has been met. You can watch the video here to see the helmet in action.
