The Slumtube House is an Affordable Living Space Project

First it was shipping containers and now, it's shipping pallets with the Slumtube house. This is round two for architects Andreas Claus Schnetzer and Pils Gregor who previously designed the Pallet House earlier in the year.

Insulated with straw and clay, the Slumtube house provides affordable shelter in Johannesburg, shielding against the extreme hot and cold temperatures in the region. An improvement on their last design, it was built to European standards for structural soundness.
