In 2005, Skype was ranked third for global brands by broadchannel.com just below Google and Apple (and just above Starbucks). Skype is a VOIP company similar to Vonage that allows free or cheap calling through the computer. Skypecast, currently in Beta, allows people to have live public conversations. Conversations range from the Daily Show & Cobert Report (timed around the programs airing) to the unfortunely explicit adult themes.

As for marketing potential there are the usual early adopters. I’ve managed to fine a handful of out of home business sales kits being promoted on these SkypeCasts. Due to Skype’s global brand position the two clearest opportunities are in Business & Politics
