[Edit]
Designers are taking advantage of recent technological advances and coming up with more creative designs. One popular trend is creating a piece of furniture from a single piece of material. no screws, no joints, no parts. Just a single piece. We present you with three such examples.
The Pano Chair (bottom, right) is all cut out of a single piece of birch wood. The process utilizes digital cutting and tenon and mortise construction. Its assemblage, without adhesive, is based on the principles of lever, assembly in force and warped surface.
The Piu chair (top picture) by Young Hwan Kim is made from single cut sheet of alloy steel and is delicately bent and cut. The smart minimalist design allows chairs to be stacked on top of achother while maintaining the look of a single chair.
The Tubo chair by Joel Escalona (bottom, left) is made with only one piece of cylindrical steel bar measuring 8.5 meters, and only requires a single manufacture process.
