Australia-based Shark Shield has brought out "the first electronic shark-deterrent system specifically designed for surfers." It can protect you from shark about 26 feet in diameter by generating an electrical field that the shark senses through receptors in its snout. The shark goes into "muscular spasms" that makes it powerless of assault.
Implications - In today's chaotic, unpredictable world, consumers feel the need to be prepared for any and everything. Though tragic, the occurrence of natural disasters and other crises opens up a market of survival and preparation products that will serve the increasing consumer paranoia. Those involved in the technology industry will find infiltrating this booming industry easy.
